Flyers: Many dogs are waiting to go to new homes in Germany and Holland and need to have "flight parents" (but not on Ryan Air) to reach their new home. We will bring the dog to you at the airport and the dog will be collected at the airport on arrival by its new owners. There will be no cost to you and little inconvenience.
Volunteers: Volunteers are always needed to spend time with the dogs or cats. The cats and dogs always love company and someone to play with. You can also be "paired" with one dog, where you spend time with that dog, take it on long walks, maybe to the vet and maybe even on an outing to help us learn more about the dog and to help the dog to be more social. The more information we can collect about the dogs and about how they are when in the real world helps us more easily find the dog a home.
Dog and puppy fosters: Fosters are greatly valued to offer the dogs a temporary home. As a foster, all treatments and vetting costs for the dog will be paid and food can be provided if necessary. You can either foster a dog or puppy who already has a new home to go to and is just waiting until his or her travel date, or foster a dog or puppy to help us learn more about it and then we will do our best to find him or her a home as soon as possible.
Donations: Donations are still needed for the shelter to care for the animals that are still here, to pay for the staff, to pay for food and vetting. Donations are also needed to help pay for the dogs to travel to their new homes. Donations can also be made directly to pay for vet bills or other costs. The shelter is a properly registered charity so any donations qualify for full tax relief.
Goods Donations: The charity shops at Sao Bras and Quarteira provide essential funding for the centre and are in need of your very kind donations eg. clothes, bric-a-brac and any unwanted furniture. The shops are open from 10am to 6pm every day so donations can be dropped off at any time and you might find a bargain yourself! If furniture needs to be picked up or for directions to both shops you can call Bernadette on 915 806 647 / 915 806 674.
